Prague, Czech Republic

Background

Beijer Chemapol was established in 1970 as a joint venture between the Czech company Chemapol Ltd (today UnipetrolGroup) and Beijerinvest AB in Stockholm, both of which had jointly traded since the end of the 1950ies.

Until 2004 the Swedish founder, Dr Anders Wall, controlled 49 percent of the company through G&L Beijer Import & Export AB in Stockholm.

At the end of 2004 G&L Beijer Import & Export aquired the Unipetrol part and is now controlling 100 percent of Beijer Chemapol and its subsidiaries in Denmark, Finland and the Czech Republic.

Unipetrol is the 3rd largest company in the Czech Republic with more than 6.500 employees and is now owned by PKN Orlen in Poland. In spite of the change of ownership, Beijer Chemapol has extensive contacts with the PKN Orlen and Unipetrol companies.
